Prior to beginning this project, I had occasionally been bringing baked goods into the office and typically brought them to key individuals that I interacted with on a regular basis. These are the people to which I extended the initial invitation for my project and much to my delight, they all accepted. The invitation went as follows:
"My fellow co-workers,
I hope that you have enjoyed the treats that I have provided you over the last few weeks as I very much enjoyed making them! After some serious pondering, I have decided that perhaps it is time for me to take my love for baking to the next level and am planning on starting up a weekly cupcake blog. This blog would follow my weekly baking endeavours featuring a specific cupcake that would be catered to you! That's right, a cupcake would be personally delivered to your desk once a week. Sweet right? Well, literally speaking, yes! But there is a catch...no I won't be asking for money (though I would be foolish to turn down a generous soul suggesting that my cupcake tastes like a million bucks;), what I AM asking is that while enjoying your free weekly treat you thoughtfully fill out a score card that I will provide for each particular cupcake. I will be posting the ratings and reviews on my blog along with the associated recipe and photographs. It is my intent to present you with an alimentary creation every Monday, though this may occasionally differ according to both my work and personal schedule, you will definitely receive an edible treat on a weekly basis. Be aware that your weekly treat may occasionally be on the savoury/salty side as I experiment with creating different recipes. Also, though I don't believe there have been issues in the past, I unfortunately won't be able to cater to specific dietary requirements (vegan, gluten free, allergies or lactose intolerance) so do consider this before accepting my invitation, and "I'm on a diet" is not an acceptable answer since you will only be required to indulge once a week.
Please understand that this is a WEEKLY commitment and that you will be expected to hold up your end of the bargain as I will stop delivering to those noncompliant. To get things started, I am looking for 10 individuals for this project and have given you first dibs on these spots before I open the floor to other tech park peoples. Given that you will be contributing to my blog on a weekly basis, you will have the option to be recognized as a regular contributor (by your name, or as an alter ego) or you may remain anonymous, the decision is entirely up to you. Feel free to accept or decline this offer, but get back to me as soon as possible (by Friday May 20th, 2011 at 1600 (4pm), for those of you who are deadline oriented) as I plan on commencing this new adventure Monday May 23rd. Thanks for your consideration."
